Light the Pyre: A Final Goodbye. Super Partial Solar Eclipse in Aries (03/29/2025)

Updated: Mar 19

This day, the Partial Solar Eclipse marries a Super New Moon in Aries, heralding new beginnings and very final endings. Something has to leave for the new world to be built.

The energy of this eclipse will be felt the most intensely about 2 weeks on either side of March 29th. However, this event closes out a longer story we have lived since April of 2023.

What’s an eclipse?

Eclipses are what happens when the Sun, Moon, and Earth align in such a way in the sky that either the Sun’s or Moon’s light is significantly dimmed. As an example, an eclipse happening on a New Moon is a Solar Eclipse – here, the Moon blocks out or dims the Sun’s light (at least we perceive it that way from Earth). Eclipses can be partial or total. Regardless, they’re still powerful forces in our lives. Depending on where we live in the world, we might not see a Solar eclipse happening. However, we can still feel the impact of this particular eclipse even if we can’t see it ourselves.

What’s a Super eclipse?

Super Moons are new or full moons that are closer to Planet Earth than normal. Ergo, the moon in the sky is bigger and more impactful (on the tides, or in astrology!) than on normal full or new moons. The astronomical reason for this is that the Moon’s orbit around Earth isn’t completely circular, so there are places within the orbit where the Moon is closest to Earth – and therefore, appears bigger and stronger than usual. As eclipses are new or full moons, this phenomenon can happen to eclipses as well: and if it happens (like now!), then the eclipse is super-charged.

The Axis of Eclipses

Eclipses happen 2-3 times a year and they come in pairs or triplets. While this is the final season of 2024, this particular eclipse is the first of 3. But what’s even more significant is that eclipses can carry a thematic connection based on the astrological signs that they happen in. This means that all eclipses in Aries and Libra are somewhat connected to each other: similar themes may come up for you around each date. This eclipse is the last eclipse on the Aries/Libra axis. It closes out a cycle that started in April 2023. (We won’t have eclipses in Aries and Libra until the year 2032).

A Last Goodbye

Since April 30th, 2023, we have had eclipses on the Aries-Libra axis. Now that the Nodes switched into Pisces and Virgo, this is the last eclipse of its kind for the next 9 years. This also marks the last eclipse of its kind because of the Outer Planets’ position: Neptune, ruler of the North Node, sits at the very end of its home sign, closing out its stay there since 2012.

Let’s step back from the astro-speak now and talk plainly.

There are astrological events that can take a seemingly mundane day or stretch of weeks and make it into something that we later on learn was the end of a massive story in our lives. This Partial Super Solar Eclipse in Aries is one of those days. Whatever we’re saying goodbye to, it’s final.

There may be grief. There may be the sense of quietly letting go of what we can no longer carry – whether that’s a job, relationship, a dream, or an inner attitude. Not all goodbyes are bad ones.

But in many cases, we will be saying goodbye to a relational pattern or person we have been struggling with since April 2023.

A New Dream

September 2024, we have been shown a new dream, a new vision for our future. This might not have popped up in your awareness quite as fancy as my words make it seem: for some of you, the eclipse in Pisces on September 18th, 2024 (+/- 2 weeks) has given you an epiphany that hit you like a private concert of trumpeting angels from heaven. In other cases, you may have quietly started to wonder about something, to daydream about a thing, or to sense intuitively that something might have or should be happening.

Around that time, we were introduced to the new theme we’ll be carrying into our future. The re-alignment we need for our soul’s destiny. The longing we actually have in the quiet depths of our hearts.

Any ending happening at this time is the final cleansing fire that burns away the overgrowth and fertilizes the soil – for the new dreams. This ending is necessary for a new beginning, whether it’s an internal ending (finally letting it go), or an external closing out of a relationship, job, etc.

Full Stop. New Start.

This eclipse heralds a new era. Recently, Pluto has fully entered Aquarius, an event that only happens every 248 years – and lasts about 22 years in total. It’s also aspecting this eclipse. Neptune is about to enter Aries within days of this event, which it does every 168 years for about 14 years.

We are at the beginning of incredibly rare astrological events that don’t tend to happen together. And this precipice is being prepared by this eclipse.

Now, how does it affect us as individuals? A personal reading is the way to go if you’d like to get into this fully (especially as so many astrological events are coming together that I can’t do justice in a couple of paragraphs). But I’ve also tried my best to create a little preview per sign below.

In the signs:

Please check your Sun and Rising sign.

Aries:

You are not the person you used to be: it’s time to send the old you off with a kiss, a hug of thanks, and a celebration for all you used to be. Who have you become since April 2023? What life changes happened for you – and where is a final adjustment necessary? Listen to the signs and change what you need to.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: the self, identity, your body, your life path, new beginnings, big changes.

Taurus:

This astrological event is the end of a pretty tough time in your life: wherever you have struggled since April 2023, this is the final page in that chapter. Today, rest, release, and know that all that ends was meant to end. This is also an important time to feed yourself spiritually. Don’t: take things personally. Do: trust your soul.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: rest, release, necessary endings, karmic culmination, your soul, your spiritual life, time by yourself.

Gemini:

This astrological event might bring an ending and a new beginning to your friend group and plans for the long-distance future. You might be realizing that a dream you held just isn’t feasible – or that you’ve lived it to the extent you were meant to. It’s time to make new plans and, as time goes on, to meet new people.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: community, friendship, social media, fame/infamy, legacy, hopes and dreams for the future, life after 50.

Cancer:

This astrological event lights up your career, soul mission, real-world job, authority figures, legacy, public life, and parents (specifically the father). This may bring an ending to the way that you have approached work or similar topics, or it may close out a work project/chapter of your life’s mission.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: career, mission, reputation, authority figures, legacy, parents (father).

Leo:

At this time, it’s time to let life teach you which belief you hold is accurate. Since April 2023, your horizons and beliefs will have expanded. You may have also learned or taught in new ways. Now, it’s time for a final reckoning of how beliefs shape and change your daily life… and to get honest with where they are the truth. Let life teach you.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: belief systems (including religion), travel, luck, broadening horizons, teaching, learning.

Virgo:

This event brings the need to go deeper, trust your intuition more, and see beneath the surface of what’s visible. Past wounds may come up to be resolved. You may be privy to information you didn’t have before. Secrets and hidden truths may come to light and themes around trust and power may flare up. This is not the end of those themes for you, Virgo, though it is an ending for almost everyone else. Pay attention and act on what you know at this time. It’ll save you pain for the future to come.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: truth, trust, secrets, the wound, healing, intimacy/sexuality, going deep.

Libra:

Relationships have been an area of interest for you since April 2023 especially. Not everything will have worked while some things worked well. At this time, it’s important, to be honest with what you’ve learned and who you want to take with you in the time to come. Remember, this event leads to a new beginning, too.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: 1-on-1 relationships, business partners, marriage, love, commitment.

Scorpio:

Part of the themes of this eclipse is health: if there’s anything going on in your body that should get checked out, routinely or because there are issues now is a good time for a doctor’s appointment or therapy plan – as any hidden issues will come to the surface and healing energy supports you. However, not everyone will experience this astrological event in the area of health; some will see it in their work environment and service. What changes do you need to make at work? How do your daily chores (at home or work) serve or don’t serve you? Adjust accordingly, for an ending here may come at you.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: health, well-being, work, daily chores and routines, environment, pets, being of service.

Sagittarius:

This event marks an ending in the life area of pleasure, children, creativity, and romance. While this doesn’t have to mean your romantic relationship ends (the opposite could be the case!) it’s prudent to say that thinking about the long-term future in love might be smart at this time. There might also be changes and/or endings regarding children or fertility, and endings or changes in your creative work or with the things you do for fun.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: pleasure, children, romance, hobbies, creativity, fertility, your heart.

Capricorn:

For you, this event might create ripples of change in your life regarding your home, family, your family of origin, your roots, and your private life. Mostly, however, this will affect you psychologically – including but not limited to your psychological foundations and the way you see the past. Build solidly and clean out what doesn’t serve.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: family, the home, parents (mother), foundations, roots, private life.

Aquarius:

This eclipse might bring an end to a learning or study journey. The way you think and perceive the world may be up for a drastic change. Outside events may also affect your local life, neighbors, and siblings.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: communication, learning, the media, perception, local life, siblings.

Pisces:

This event affects all things regarding finances: your income, what you have accumulated, how you spend money (and on what), monetizable assets or skills, and so on. This is a time to make the kind of changes that serve you and to align your finances with the goals you have for the future. Lastly, your self-worth may be up for a change at this time. Support yourself emotionally.

Pay close attention to these areas of life: values, self-worth, finances, monetizable skills, assets.
