The Axis of Destiny is changing signs: The North Node (Rahu) starts its journey through Pisces, and the South Node (Ketu) through Virgo on January 29th, 2025. They’ll remain in these signs until August 18th, 2026.
This article is a bit of a longer one – because it’s meant to be a guide for this coming time. In this article, you’ll find a breakdown of what the nodes are, an explanation of what we’ll face with the Nodes in Pisces and Virgo, and advice for the signs.
What Are the Nodes?
The North and South Node of the Moon (also called Rahu and Ketu) are the two points in space where eclipses can happen at any given point in time. On eclipses, the Sun, Moon, and Planet Earth align in such a way that either the Sun’s or the Full Moon’s light is dimmed or even blocked completely, which makes these events special.
These locations for possible eclipses – called “The Nodes” for short – aren’t quite stationary; rather, they move through the zodiac similarly to normal astrological planets. Every 18-19 years, they return to where they started: which means that the last time the North Node graced Pisces was June 2006, and it won’t get into the sign again until September 2043.
However, the Nodes are so much more than the geographical markers for potential eclipses.
What Do the Nodes Mean?
The Nodes are called the “Axis of Destiny” – and the reason for that is that they show our soul’s purpose. As they move through the zodiac and our charts in real-time, they tend to activate different parts of our inherent soul’s purpose and call in growth opportunities for us or set us up for realignments to our path. Where that growth or alignment takes place in our lives depends on what specific signs, and specific parts of our charts, the nodes move through and thereby activate.
This is why the nodes are important even when it’s not eclipse season: the nodes may be especially activated when we have an eclipse happening (as we did for instance on September 18th, 2024,) but they’re consistently creating changes, growth, and opportunities for parts of our lives.
But how do they do that? The two nodes have very different ways of operating – let’s explain.
The South Node (also known as Ketu)
In a nutshell, the South Node shows what’s already there. This goes both for positives and the negatives: what’s there already could be a great gift we can build on for the future. It could also be a chapter we’re completely ready to close out and leave behind forever (been there, done that). Or, what’s already there is an excess that needs to be cut down upon, or even toxicity that needs to be healed. (No astrological symbol is inherently good or bad – they’re always both.) The South Node also shows the kind of tools, energies, and skills that don’t serve us as well as they used to – at this time. (This will change as the nodes move on!)
The North Node (also known as Rahu)
The North Node by contrast shows what’s needed, and what’s coming in. This could be an energy or topic we’re completely unfamiliar with. This could be something we technically already know, but the intensity is dialed up by a thousand. Or, it could be that we’re finally ready to face and have worked towards for a long time. What matters most is that it isn’t us who (fully) decide what we need, but our souls. The North Node always brings us closer to our soul’s purpose, while the South Node tends to the foundation we stand on. Lastly, the North Node also shows us what skills, energies, and tools are working incredibly well for the situations we’re thrown into. They’re needed right now.
Constant Change
The Nodes (as they move through the signs over our lifetimes) always show both a path to the future and a moment-to-moment view. Astrologically, this means is that the nodes always change zodiac signs and which parts of your chart they’re in. In practical terms, this means that they show us our curriculum – for now, not forever. The South Node’s themes are enough/too much/… for now. The tools of the North Node work better at this time – not all the time. Eventually, you’ll have to adjust again.
Destiny and Mystery: The South Node in Virgo, the North Node in Pisces
The South Node in Virgo shows us the foundation we stand on at this point in our lives, as a collective (and individually). It’s a foundation of the Virgo principles of discernment, mental analysis, skillfulness, improvement, and diligence. We know how to work and work hard. We know how to strip things to the essentials, and how to see the potential for things to go wrong. We know what our faults are, and the faults of everyone from Susan who lives next door to Billy who runs for Congress. We can focus on the details and the practical, the nitty-gritty, and the “one right way” of doing things properly. We’ve cared about what the people will think and we know how to be cautious and what we need to fear.
All of these qualities are good things! But now, it’s time to deemphasize the role they play in our lives. (It’s great to have a hammer, but right now, we’ll need a screwdriver to succeed).
It’s time to go from fear to trust.
From seeking to fix, to acceptance of what is.
From following the plan to dreaming new goals.
From finding faults to seeing the gifts.
From perfectionism to compassion.
From judgment to forgiveness.
From analysis to intuition.
From daily, busy grind to slowing down.
From rigidity to flexibility.
From strategy to creativity.
From diligence to flow.
From speaking to silence.
From overwork to rest.
From learning to knowing.
From the practical to the spiritual.
For some of you, this list may be triggering or scary… because the qualities we’re starting out with are (with few exceptions) very good and helpful ones to have. But don’t worry, the goal isn’t to leave them behind completely, it’s to deemphasize… and to get honest with where those qualities have become harmful due to excess.
Thinking is great. But constantly overthinking causes and feeds anxiety.
Finding where we went wrong is awesome. Finding fault in everything you do destroys your self-confidence and productivity.
Fear and caution keep us alive. But being overly cautious destroys our quality of life, and being overly fearful cripples us completely.
The list continues.
The medicine for the excess is the same list of tools that work particularly well under the North Node in Pisces: dreaming, stillness, creativity, listening to our intuition, searching the soul, feeding our spiritual life, and so on aren’t supposedly “helpful tools” (as per some societies, at least) – but they are the tools that help us right now. They are the wayfinder that shows us where we should go in life.
The Power of Acceptance
Growing as an individual is important. I’m the first person to propagate that self-improvement and honesty about one’s own flaws and gifts are incredibly important. However, there comes a time when seeking to improve becomes a toxic spiral of attempting to fix ourselves in ways we don’t need to be fixed. This then creates problems, rather than healing.
We heal while sleep. We heal while we cover up the wound and stop prodding at it. If the issue is still there in Summer 2026, we can tackle it then.
This is the time to integrate the growth work you’ve done already (as all growth needs to be integrated).
This is the time to step away from the hamster wheel of over-improvement and rest.
Every person is unique. Whole. Beautiful. But that beauty, wholeness, and uniqueness don’t come from perfection. The North Node in Pisces shows that our worth lies within our imperfections as well.
True self-acceptance means to make peace with who you are already, not who you wish you’d become.
Note: please use wisdom here. This is not advice to accept, or perpetrate, harmful behavior towards others or yourself: self-acceptance needs to always be tied to wisdom, ethics, and the appropriate situational context. For example: if you need to get sober to save your health or relationships, then that’s not something to put off for too long. If, however, you want to do another round of personal growth work that’s not acute or strictly necessary at this time, doing less or pausing completely will pay off and create more healing than you think. That’s the magic of the North Node in Pisces: you heal while you rest.
This isn’t just about ourselves either, but also about our lives in general. From a place of truly accepting what is, without hustling to create the next change, we can often start seeing the gifts of the situation, which allows us to use them appropriately. Not just that, but true growth and real wisdom come from being in the moment, rather than the mental checklist of where something isn’t up to par.
The time of January 2025 to Summer 2026 is an invitation to let our problems exist as they are for a while, rather than rushing in to solve them right away. In many cases, the pause will show us not only where problems weren’t problems in the first place but actually, blessings in disguise. It’ll also show us where problems go away on their own. Note: please use wisdom here. This advice doesn’t apply to actual emergencies or related situations where inaction/pauses would cause harm.
The subject of acceptance also includes accepting others as they are. While letting someone know where and how they can improve is an act of service, this is a time to do so sparingly. So, if it’s really important because it’s harming you, them, or third parties – go for it. Otherwise, consider letting things play out. Abuse for instance is actual harm. Many other things that tick us off in others really aren’t harmful – if we’re being honest.
Last but not least: of course, we have a right to ask for how we’d like to be treated. But what’s also true is that we will receive much more love and happiness in life when we’re willing to accept the imperfect, well-intended, different brand of love or respect someone else gives us without our asking. Our relationships thrive when we appreciate others for who they are and how they choose to act, rather than who we want them to be – or what we want them to do. To make my meaning here very clear: it’s important to communicate needs and set boundaries. However, we don’t get to be tyrants about it – openness to different brands of love, care, and support is also very important, as always provided that they don’t hurt us.
Spirituality and Intuition
One of the main themes of the Nodes on the Pisces-Virgo axis is the return, and necessity, of spirituality and intuition. We’re in a time where the practical parts of our world, the tangible and measurable things in life, are superseded in importance by the soul and intangible realities.
What is matters – but why it is matters more. Ignoring that would be to our detriment.
Feeding our bodies is essential – feeding our souls is just as much (if, at times, not more so).
The time of the North Node in Pisces marks a realignment with our souls and our true soul purposes. Prayer, meditation, and related activities are a great way to reestablish a connection between yourself and this ephemeral part of yourself (that can often be silenced by too much business and distraction).
Sit in the void and let the answers come to you. Logic will only get you so far at this time.
Trust in the mystery of what you don’t know: answers will come from that place.
Follow your gut and listen to your heart. Your intuition knows more than your mind does – and it has access to higher-quality information.
Your way-finding compass for this time is not what you learned or think – it’s your intuitive knowing, and what feels true to the bones.
Making Peace with the Past and Dreaming of a Better World
There is a time for practicality and playing by the rules set by other people. And there is a time to dream of how the world could be.
Dreams put us in touch with the highest possible potential of humanity. They’re ways of how the soul can show us what we truly need, and how our unconscious shows us what we really desire. Dreaming of the future and playing with our imagination allows us to one day create a better life – and stay true to what really matters.
There’s a massive theme around dreaming around the eclipses of Fall 2024 to the first 3 eclipses of 2025. Those are:
(technically, 2 more eclipses follow on October 2nd and 17th, 2024, on the Aries-Libra axis)
March 14th, 2025
March 29th, 2025
September 7th, 2025
(The rest of the eclipses are September 21st, 2025, February 17th, March 2-3rd, August 12th, and August 27-28th, 2026).
These eclipses (09/17/2024, 03/14/2025, 03/29/2025, 09/07/2025) ask us to dream about the life we’d like to have and to listen to our intuition to find out what’s possible and where to go from here. Not only that, but they also ask us to go back into our past and find out what we’d like to take with us for the future we need. This is valuable information that prepares us for the final eclipse of 2025 on September 21st of that year: at that time, action and change come into our lives that test our vision and where we’re at in life.

Aries:
This is a time of release for you. Of letting end what needs to end. Of letting go of the illusion of control (because we don’t actually control as much as we think we do). It’s time to simplify your life. It’s time to prioritize rest. Life is more than the grind of to-do lists and practical goals. You’re being rerouted to the ephemeral things that make it more. Sit with yourself without distraction. Listen to what comes up. Return to the soul. Return to a spiritual life that serves you. At this time, expect the unforeseen. Charity and compassion are highlighted.
Key phrase: From daily grind, overstimulation, and constant over-giving, to stillness, rest, and tending the soul.

Taurus:
Joy is the food for life – but as humans, we need more than the kind of happiness that’s temporary. As humans, we feel fulfilled when we’re doing something within community: be that in our friend group or larger groups of people. This is the time to ask yourself how your life can gain fun by bringing others into it. Also, it’s time to be more strategic to create the life you want to have decades down the line. Dream of the future, and dream big.
Key phrase: From temporary pleasure and surface-level joys to long-term strategy and focus on community.

Home is where the heart is – and that place is a springboard for us to enter the outside world. This time may mark an increase of work and a necessity for being out there in the world, rather than focusing on the home as much. Reputation and visibility may become big themes that see great changes. It’s time to release the past and take charge in your life to shape the present moment. Step into your mission, and dream the next steps to being.
Key phrase: From a focus on the past, privacy, family, and home to public endeavors, purpose, leadership, and career.

Cancer:
Life is full of questions and various perspectives – it’s time to find the answers. You know more than you think you do: trust what you know rather than get lost in all possible options. Seek the meaning behind everything that happens (few things, if anything in life, are random). Seek truth to believe. Themes around education, travel, and belief may be highlighted: have faith and trust the adventure that is life.
Key phrase: From learning and listening to your logical mind to deeper knowing and matters of faith.

Leo:
It’s time to go deeper. In life. In relationships. Into the unknown. For you, intuition leads you behind the veil and into the deeper truths – not only of life but also in a quite concrete way of seeing the intention of others and hidden secrets. It’s time to listen to and follow your intuition where it leads. In relationships, it’s time to get honest with whom you can trust – and with what. Being self-sufficient is wonderful, but as human beings, pooling resources (from energy to goods to finances) is unavoidable. How does the way you handle this serve you? Whom do you trust – and with what?
Key phrase: From tending what you value and self-sufficiency to intimacy, intuition, and shared resources.

Virgo:
Being in touch with who we are, doing growth work, realizing our own goals, and being firm in who we are is great. This is a wonderful and healthy quality to have and not something you should ever lose. And. It’s time to shift the focus away from constantly developing/perfecting these things (unless it’s acutely necessary to continue). Now, it’s time for the growth human beings naturally engage in when we’re with other people, especially in committed friendships and romantic relationships. It’s time to find the people we want to be with in life. It’s time to maintain the relationships we have. It’s time to grow with others, rather than focusing on “individuating,” a.k.a. growing alone. It’s time to commit beyond self-commitment. It’s time to put the focus outside yourself for a while now, and onto your relationships – without forgetting that a healthy and happy You makes a healthy and happy Us. This is also a time when partnership is highlighted: you might experience change here.
Key phrase: From focus on self and self-realization to focus on relationships, compromise, and love.

Libra:
Imagine your life was a big house with an attic. As you live life, the residue of bad experiences, belief systems, and other stuff you don’t need piles up in said attic, so, periodically, we’re forced to clean and throw that stuff out – the time for this is now. In essence, this means that you process a bunch of things mentally. As a side effect, physical things/parts of your life that don’t serve you are forcibly being flushed out so they can end. But this isn’t something that happens for its own sake: it’s so you’re able to (and better at) taking productive action in your life and engaging in the world. So, this is supposed to drive you forward in life and aid you practically, rather than keep you stuck in the miasma of past pain. (Also, at this time, you process things way better through taking action, even if it’s unrelated to your problem – things like renovating your kitchen can absolutely give you a helpful healing perspective on a painful experience!) The real focus for this time lies on your health and mental well-being, on your work in this world (be it on a job, or house chores), on your daily routines and habits, and lastly on the way you help others. You might find yourself being drawn out of isolation or a period of inaction/less action, and into a more busy and work-laden time.
Key phrase: From excess, stagnancy, entrapments, and holding on to the past to work, productive action, tending your body, and being of service.

Scorpio:
We live our lives aware that we have an audience – be that our friends, our neighbors, the people we work with/for, or society at large. How much we let that audience impact us depends on the individual… and right now, it’s time to lower the impact of that even more. This is a time to be creative for creativity’s sake, uncaring of who likes what you’re doing or whether it makes you fit in. This is a time to follow your heart regardless of what people think. The false friends we have may fall away, our true friends never will. This is a time to feed our hearts with joy and to open our hearts to love. Children (yours or someone else’s) and fertility may be highlighted.
Key phrase: From having a 12-step plan, compromising, and focusing on others to having fun, following your heart, and being creative.

There is a time to focus on our career, our impact in the world, and our reputation, and there’s a time to place the focus more on our internal and private reality. This is the time for the latter. Now, the focus is drawn to the foundations of your life, be they psychological/internal, familial, or in our physical home. It’s also time to be a little less out-and-about and more rooted in a place you feel at home in. It’s time to find what nourishes you and to pour into yourself. Make peace with the past and build on the foundation your life stands on. For some, the family you started/starting a family is highlighted.
Key phrase: From focus on work, career, and reputation to staying at home, nourishing yourself, and tending your family.

When you know, you know – but what if “what you know” is incomplete? This is a time to not just focus on the things you know already and what you believe to be true but to actually look at life honestly and check whether your beliefs are accurate. This is also the time to learn something new – and, most importantly, to use your voice and express what you need to express. This is a time for life-changing conversations… and for some, events regarding their local lives, the media, and siblings.
Key phrase: From a fixed perspective and knowing it all to learning something new and using your voice.

Transformation, upheaval, and intense growth are part of life… and right now it’s time to focus away from that and more on creating safety and stability in your life. What do you need to feel secure? It’s time to bring that into your life and prioritize building a life (and sense of self) that feel solid. If transformation is needed to get there, great. But the focus isn’t on creating change, it’s on bringing things to a balance that’s sustainable. Part of this astrological event is also a focus on income and finances. Another part is your values: this is not a time for compromising yourself, but for living according to your values and for valuing yourself for and within your integrity.
Key phrase: From intensity, depth, and transformation to finding stability, tending what you value, and preserving finances.

Pisces:
This is a time to figure out who you truly are – and to be surprised by what you may find once you actually listen to the voice that tells you what you really need. It’s time to fill your own cup first and see how far you’ve come already. It’s time to build your confidence and conquer the world. New beginnings may abound, and the voice of your soul may lead you on new (or slightly different) paths than the ones you already know. Pisces Sun, Moon, and Rising are the most affected by this astrological event.
Key phrase: From focusing on others, false loyalty, and enmeshment to new beginnings and finding out who you truly are.
